Not likely: First you may be surprised to know that most people have been infected with the herpes simplex I virus but only a small % of the people end up with cold sores. It is thus highly unlikely that you would get herpes from the spit. Herpes I is different from genital herpes which is herpes 2 which usually does not reside in the oral cavity.
