Excitable brain cell: Anything that causes brain cells to be irritated or overexcitable can cause a seizure. Genetic causes of epilepsy that lead to an abnormality in excitability of neurons or miswiring of connections can cause seizures. Also, any scar or lesion on the brain can cause seizure. Infections and other conditions that alter the body's normal chemistry can cause seizures.
