Cause of wheezing: Usually this is viral induced in a 2 year old, especially if other children are sick at his daycare. He may benefit from nebulized saline, supplemental oxegen and a trial of steroids. Antibiotics usually not needed with wheezing unless cxr shows consolidation. Get all smokers out of the house till child turns 18.

See below: Symptoms of low potatssium level "hypokalemia" depend on the level and rapidity off fall. Muscle weakness, cramps and heart irregularities 'arryhthmia" are described. Since these symptoms are not specific only to hypokalemia and one can have low blood levels without symptoms, a blood test is necessary. Other electrolyte disorders can also coexist and are important to detect.

1 week: If you do in fact, have a urine infection that reached the point of such symptoms, it implies that the infection is somewhat worse than just a simple bladder infection. The nausea, back pains etc imply it may have actually been involving your kidneys. This is a pretty sick type of circumstance and usually takes a good week for the symptoms to improve. Be sure to f/u with your pcp.
A 29-year-old member asked:

During pregnancy, are depression & anxiety and low potassium somehow related?

Not necessarily: During pregnancy, some women (especially those with prior histories of depression and anxiety) can be at risk for developing depression and anxiety. This can be related to the physical and hormonal changes associated with pregnancy as well as the stress of the pregnancy (change is stressful even when it is a good change). Low potassium is not directly related to either, but can also occur.

Bronchospasm ....: You may have some bronchospasm contributing to your symptoms. Perhaps a trial of a bronchodilator inhaler with a steroid inhaler would be worthwhile to see if the cough/congestion resolves further. You may have partial treatment with your current regimen. See your doctor to try this approach. If you smoke, you need to quit to decrease airway inflammation.

I would add try nasal saline and pillow/mattress covers, since your symptoms improved following treatment for allergies.
