See below: Was your tonsillitis treated with antibiotics? Did you have a strep test? Streptococcal tonsillitis is most often a self limited disease in industrialized countries. Antibiotics will make it resolve 1.5 to 2.5 days quicker than if no antibiotics are given. It's likely your current sore throat is viral.
