What's the best way to relieve insomnia side effects from lexapro (escitalopram)? melatonin, trazodone, clonazepam? i've only had 6 hours of sleep in 2 days.

Escitalopram: 28 year old with a question about insomnia from Lexapro. Studies show SSRIs such as escitalopram can cause rapid cycling of bipolar disorder and induce mania. It can also cause insomnia in depressed people. Make sure you are taking it in the morning, evaluate stimulant use. I would consider trying another med.+ add one for sleep. You need a full medical exam to evaluate your insomnia.Good luck.

Medication effects: Side effect of Lexapro (escitalopram) may be Insomnia Insomnia can also be due to Stresses in life causing Anxiety. Trazodone is for Depression, Clonazepam is for Anxiety. Both can have side effects.
