Can a brain stem stroke cause bowel problems? after my dads stroke he can't control his bowels and it burns him up?

Maybe: Depending upon location and size of the stroke, secondary bowel and/or bladder control issues may follow, but there may be other reasons, such as chronic infections, low intact of fiber, and dietary problems. This should definitely be explored thoroughly with your physicians.
