I : I agree that recovery from surgery varies from one person to another, and depends on the difficulty of the surgery, whether the appendix may have been ruptured at surgery, the degree of infection, and any other illness before surgery. Generally one will have a diminished appetite for a week or more after surgery. It is important to drink plenty of liquids after surgery and eat smaller amounts of solid food more frequently during the day. Slowly increasing a persons activity and walking also helps with appetite. Also some antibiotics, if used after surgery, can cause decreased appetite or a bad taste in the mouth. Watch for progressing pain, fevers, vomiting, or feeling the things he felt before the surgery. It would be important to ask your question to your father's surgeon.
