What is the difference between pain in the jugular vein in the neck and a pulled muscle?

See below.: Pain in the jugular vein is very rare and should be located directly over the vessel. Pain in the muscle is very common and should be localizible to the muscle.

Jugular vein: It would be unusual for the jugular vein to be painful. An ultrasound of the vein would show any problem.
