I am an extremely rational / educated person (law degree). i have strong romantic feelings towards my surgeon (male ob-gyn). is this abnormal or just a reaction to an emotional medical journey?

Not abnormal at all: Being a highly educated and extremely rational person does not insulate you from normal human emotions, such as sexual attraction. Many persons find themselves attracted to a person who is helping them through a stressful crisis. Attorneys, MDs, therapists & priests often experience this with their clients/patients. You do not need to act on these feelings if they create any conflicts for you.
