The pediatric pulmonologist suggests my son has an ild. he ordered a ct scan which the results show no ild but there is a mosiac pattern. thoughts?

Many causes: A mosaic pattern in this age group can mean many different things. Interstitial lung disease is a disease of adults, not children. Infection and inflammation are the 2 primary considerations. A biopsy may be required to help sort out the accurate diagnosis.

Some thoughts.: A mosaic pattern on a CT scan of the chest may indicate areas of air trapping and inconsistent ventilation. If he is old enough, a pulmonary function test may add more information. If he has had a respiratory illness requiring hospitalization, there can be changes in the airways which can also lead to these findings.
