Infection: An internal infection may be putting pressure on a nerve. You need to see an oral surgeon ASAP to be treated. Failure to do so may result in irreversible damage and permanent numbness. In addition, the infection can spread to other parts of your body.

Infection: Toothache almost invariably from infection. Pain meds will not cure the infection, neither will it self cure. Numbness indicates infection is serious and is spreading rapidly. Important that you see a Dentist immediately.
