Unlikely: Even though the hyperthyroidism may be controlled with Methimazole the gland usually stays large. I assume you don't have a hyperactive tumor. If the hyperthyroidism is controlled then it is usual to stop it and see if you are cured. If it recurs then total thyroidectomy or radioactive ablation are the next treatment options.

GOITRE.: If you need to get rid of the goitre you may need surgery. Methimazole helps controlling hyperthyroidism but does not get rid of the goitre all the time.
