Bright red blood: 33 year old lady with bright red blood per rectum. In the setting of preexisting anemia, you should consult a physician about this problem right away. Fever? Travel? Immunocompromised? It sounds like you could have dysentary which is caused by pathogens such as Salmonella, Shigella, Proteus,Yersinia or even Ameba. Please see MD right away very serious you need stool culture and treatment ASAP.
