Psoriasis?: Any of several skin problems could do this, but one possibility is psoriasis. It would be more likely if you have similar patches elsewhere, or if you have prominent flaking of your scalp (dandruff). Also if there are small pits (dimple-like) in your fingernails. See a doctor if you have any of these other signs, or if it doesn't clear up in the next couple of weeks.
