Exam of the aorta: Yes, if you are normal weight or thin, it should be easy for your doctor to feel the aorta in your abdomen. It is much harder in overweight/obese patients. You may even be able to feel it yourself while you are lying on your back. We check it to make sure it is the right size, not enlarged. An enlarged aorta would be mentioned on an abdominal CT or MRI report.
