Palpitations: If young & healthy, usually these are harmless extra beats. Made worse by stimulants: caffeine, smoking, some cold medicines, so avoid these. Worse from lack of sleep & dehydration. But it's best to get checked by a doctor with an EKG to assess the real heart rhythm, and for some simple blood tests for thyroid and electrolytes. There are some dangerous rhythms that have to be treated. See a doc.

Palpitations: Follow up with a doc and get an EKG, if needed a holter ,where they take your EKG over 24-72 hours can be done as well. Sometimes we feel palpitations and on EKG it is not present. Other conditions that can cause palpitations are to much caffeine or energy drinks, thyroid disease, sometimes GERD, atrial fibrillation or intrinsic cardiac disease. f/u/ w/ doc/urgent care today
