A member asked:

Is it safe to travel internationally (20+hrs flight time) at 34 weeks with gestational hypertension?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Flying pregnant: Although it can be perfectly safe to fly up to 36 weeks, discuss your plans with your doctor or midwife before you book your flight. In high-risk cases, your healthcare provider may advise against travel in pregnancy. Increased risks of DVT are associated with pregnancy and long flights. With a 20 hour flight in combination with hypertension in the third trimester, I suggest staying home.
