Menstrual cycle: A normal menstrual cycle can be anything up to 7 days. Bleeding up to a pad or tampon in an hour, at times, can be normal, as can spotting, as well as starting and stopping flow. Bleeding more than 7 days, heavier than a pad or tampon in an hour on a regular basis, or having cycles more often than every 21 days requires further evaluation in the gyn office.
