How do you know if your really constipated?

Dr. Alvin Lin answered

Constipation: Normal frequency of bowel movement ranges from several times a day to once a week or so, as long as your stools are neither liquid (diarrhea) nor so hard that you have to strain tremendously (constipation). Sure you need to push some, but veins on your forehead shouldn't pop out while pooping! Eat plenty of fiber, drink lots of water & exercise regularly to prevent constipation.
