Can your regular doctor do allergy test on you?

Dr. Dareen Siri FAAAAI FACAAI FISAAI answered

Specializes in Allergy and Immunology

Allergy testing: Any licensed physician can order allergy tests by bloodwork. An experienced or board-certified allergist/immunologist is best qualified to interpret the information found and correlate the results with symptoms you may be experiencing. Both blood test and skin tests have advantages and disadvantages and can have false positives/negatives. Hypersensitivity type I allergy detects presence of IGE.
