Not a lot of blood: It basically means that in the area where doctors expect to see a lot of blood flow (in the artery in the back of the neck, left side), there is not very much. It may be a finding which was present at birth (some people are born without vertebral arteries); at 36, I doubt that it is due to cholesterol buildup but that is also possible. Trauma / accidents can also break the artery. Talk to your doc

Risk of stroke: Depending on age and other risks, this could be caused by arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), certain autoimmune diseases associated with arterial inflammation (arteritis), certain infections (e.g. syphilis), and other conditions. Whatever the cause, the person with this finding may be at high risk for stroke. Discuss with your doctor without delay.
