Tonsillectomy: Greetings. As far as extent of surgical resection of the tonsillar pillars (muscle tissue) , it usually depends on your particular case. Was surgery performed for obstructive regions? If so, the surgeon may have had good reason to be more aggressive with the excision. The tonsils at times are scarred to these muscles and an extended surgical plane may be needed. Each case is unique. Discuss & see.
