Cold Urticaria: 21 year old lady with cold urticaria of unknown duration. Studies show that cold urticaria is more common in young adults and usually resolves within a few years. To prevent cold urticaria is to avoid sudden changes in temperature. You can also take over the counter antihistamines such as zyrtec or get a script for levocetirizine (Xyzal) before exposing yourself to cold weather, and dress warm.
