Yes: they heal but some residual arthritis may result. This situation can be overcome and spine health restored and maintained by regular EXERCISE strengthening the muscles on either side of the spine! Your Primary Care Provider can lead you in the right direction and perhaps order some PHYSICAL THERAPY after which HOME EXERCISES will maintain a HEALTHY SPINE! Hope this helps! Dr Z
