A member asked:

For what reasons won't a doctor attempt a liver transplant in a stage iv pancreatic cancer patient?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Problematic: Generally if pancreas cancer has traveled to the liver, then there is too much disease to expect benefit of a liver transplant. If the original cancer in the pancreas is still present, then the liver transplant will not help. Medications to lower the immune system to allow for an organ transplant will also cause cancer in other sites (such as in the pancreas) to rapidly grow further.
