Gyn: My wife swears by aleve (naproxen). She takes over the counter 1 or 2 every 12 hours. Heating pad to lower abdomen can help. There are some other over the counter products such a motrin, midol or pamprin. I hope you feel better.

Yes there are ways: If your "terrible things" associated with bad menstrual cramps/pains are due to primary dysmenorrhea, they can be relieved or alleviated with a variety of antiprostaglandins (like ibuprofen, naproxen, mefenamates...) alone or in combination with continuous oral contraceptive pills (like Seasonal or Seasonique...).
