A member asked:

On average, how long will a person with kidney disease live?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Comorbities: Dialysis keeps people with severe kidney disease from dying of kidney failure. People on dialysis will all die from diseases other than renal failure. Life expectancy is typically related to how healthy the person is other than their kidney disease. I have patients that have lived more than 25 years on dialysis. The key is limiting cardiovascular risk and following the teams instructions.
