i get a small sharp kind of pain on my left side it feels like right under my rib. doesn't feel like gas. hurts a lot. what could it be?

Pain under rib: Irritated nerve, muscular? If it is not associated with any other symptoms and lasts only short intervals, then I would not be too concerned.
