Montgomery Glands: Some of the milk ducts do not make it to the nipple. They form the bumps seen around the nipple and in the areola. Sometimes they are only apparent when the muscle in the areola contracts, either when cold or aroused. Montgomery glands are perfectly normal and rarely cause any problems.
