Small Fiber Neuro: This is called small fiber neuroapthy. I do not know your history, so I cannot surmise what is causing this. most time we do not know. Good News: Irritating but harmless. Bad News: Not much you can do about it regardless of cause unless you are an uncontrolled diabetic.

The Big Squeeze..: The area you describe is very specific for the sensory branch of the deep peroneal nerve. The nerve also supplies the muscles that help with ankle and big toe movement through it's motor branch. You may need a neurologist to verify the existence of damage or entrapment of the deep peroneal nerve. The nerve runs from the area in question up to the area just outside the knee.
