2 wks ago a few small skin abrasions near neck of penis (where there is loose skin). scabbed and almost all healed up now, but not sure what it was.

Unsure...: Without detailed info on the onset, degree, duration, interval, progress, evolution, & resolution as well as the sequence of events of all symptoms + a direct look at, it is hard to offer right diagnosis. But, clinically, long-tight foreskin + overzealous physical stimulation for masturbation are often to be the culprit for what described. So, seek evaluation and counseling timely.
