You may: have a ligamentous or meniscal injury/tear that will predispose you to future problems, so you need to get evaluated by an orthopedic surgeon. The force required to truly dislocate a knee is severe. Are you talking about a patellar(kneecap) dislocation? If so you also should get evaluated, because patellar instability may also lead to recurrent and future problems. MRI may be needed.
