When should you consider getting a vitamin b12 shot?

B12 shot.: There are different forms of B12 supplementation - pills, liquid, sublingual forms and shots. The shots should generally be reserved for a deficiency with a consequence, for example, a symptomatic anemia or a peripheral neuropathy. "Energy" from B12 shots would be fleeting, so if you're looking for an energy boost I would recommend the sublingual forms once or twice daily.

Get tested for defi: Injectable B12 is indicated in the treatment of pernicious anemia. B12 by mouth or injection is also indicated in proven cases of B12 deficiency. Many physicians give B12 shots routinely more as a placebo than for any other reason. You can have your B12 level tested by your physician.
