Proper diagnosis: Well you have to be careful with steroids - they can make some conditions worse, and I think particularly of fungal infections of the skin. Some fungi actually use steroids as 'food' -so I wonder 'what' your rash looked like. I would say you definitely need a second opinion or see a dermatologist who would specialize in rashes. Eczema is usually a chronic condition-I wonder if you had it before?

See a dermatologist: Confused question reflects a confused Dr who should have sent you to a dermatologist. Do you have infection or eczema or something else? Which antibiotics? Which steroids? Is the rash confined to your back? Does it itch? How bad? How long? Ever before?
