IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) is different than IBD (inflammatory bowel disease). Both must be considered when presenting with abdominal pain, changes in bowel habits) - if IBS is confirmed by a gastroenterologist / stomach doctor, there are numerous therapies available which range from non-medical to prescription medications. Tests can sometimes include a colonoscopy, but not always.
