Chronic urticaria: 47 yo female with hives for 17 years. Chronic hives is a common condition that allergists/immunologists see in clinic on a regular basis. Most times, there is no environmental factor causing the hives. It is rare that patients with chronic hives have an underlying disorder like a thyroid problem, chronic infection, etc. Daily oral antihistamines can help. Please see an allergist for further recs

It is not due to any medication or food trigger. No specific cause can be identified in most patients with this condition.
