Chronic urticaria: 47 yo female with hives for 17 years. Chronic hives is a common condition that allergists/immunologists see in clinic on a regular basis. Most times, there is no environmental factor causing the hives. It is rare that patients with chronic hives have an underlying disorder like a thyroid problem, chronic infection, etc. Daily oral antihistamines can help. Please see an allergist for further recs

Chronic Urticaria: Chronic idiopathic or spontaneous urticaria (hives) is the persistence of hives on most days of the week for a period of 6 weeks or longer. It is not due to any medication or food trigger. No specific cause can be identified in most patients with this condition.
