My gma's had stabbing pains in kidney, she says no urine change but i notice it has a sickeningly sweet odor(could tht part just be bc she's diabetic?)

Dr. Alvin Lin answered

Diabetes: Historically speaking, diabetes mellitus (common type) was once diagnosed via sweet tasting urine b/c excess sugar "spilled" into urine. Since you know your grandma has diabetes and she's now complaining of stabbing pain, please take her to see her Family Doc or Geriatrician. If that's not possible, take her to Urgent Care or ER for evaluation.
