Could be...: Pain with a bowel movement and bright red blood leans towards probably an external hemorrhoid. You may be able to see it too if you have someone at home look at it. Black, tar-like blood is more concerning of an upper GI bleed. But either way, you definitely should be checked by your PCP or gastroenterologist.
