More info needed : a moderate to large effusion might warrant draining, but if truly of idiopathic origin sometimes it simply re-accumulates. However at your young age, not unreasonable to drain and to search for underlying causes (connective tissue disorders, thyroid issues, etc). Being on colchicine and ibuprofen can follow draining to try to prevent re-accumulation. See another cardiologist at an academic center
