A member asked:

Can a vitamin or mineral deficiency cause or contribute to sciatica and if so, which ones?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Although vitamin deficiencies can cause peripheral nerve disorders, especially B-1 and B-12, the pain and pattern of sciatica is due invariably to nerve compression at root level in lumbosacral cistern or in passage through pyriformis muscle group.
