My wife is 8 months pregnant and she says it feels like the baby has dropped a few inches. she is at work. when would be the bes time for her to put in for her leave and what signs should i look for as a husband to find out if she is ready for labor?

Check with OB doc: Her obstretician doc will know best as I'm sure she's examined her recently and can see where the baby is to know if labor is imminent.

Talk to your OB: The best person to answer your questions is your wife's OB, because s/he knows your wife. Just because the baby "dropped" doesn't mean she's going into labor. She will feel contractions getting stronger and more frequent when her labor starts. Her OB can help you decide when she should stop working.
