Not likely genetic: Acute insomnia causes include life stress (job loss/change, death of a loved one, divorce, moving), medical/psychiatric illness, emotional/physical discomfort, environment factors (noise, light, temperature), nutrition/beverages, some medications/natural substances, change in normal sleep schedule (jet lag; shift change). Sleep hygiene and life habit adjustments, support help most. Best regards.
