Delta wave, if true,: is considered a sign of early excitation of the ventricles from atrial electrical activity. Usual atria to ventricle passage of electrical activity=via the atrioventricular node. A tiny percentage of people have additional connections of atrial to ventricle muscle cells which can bypass the AV node, activate ventricle cells earlier & is reflected in EKG as a delta wave; called WPW syndrome.
