Most often "chills": are associated with fever. They are caused by rapid muscle contraction and relaxation and often predict the coming of a fever. In this setting with a cough...you're ill! Likely with a viral infection. Rest, push fluids, reduce fever with acetaminophen/ibuprofen. If develop shortness of breath, wheezing, chest pain go to your Doc or Urgent Care to be checked for pneumonia. Best wishes:)
