Vaginal discharge: During the weeks before your period starts, there is a mucous plug in the cervix at the entrance to the uterus. Just before your period starts, that mucous plug comes out, in order to let the rest of the blood/tissue come out of the uterus (your period). That is probably what you are noticing in the few days before you start bleeding.
