Is a brown discharge two days before your period normal if you have been on bc for 3 years and have never experienced this before?

Brown = blood: Brown discharge usually is old blood. Since the timing is around your period then this sounds pretty normal. Breakthrough bleeding - bleeding at the wrong time - is very common on birth control pills. If it is repetitive or you are not happy with the level of cycle control consider changing methods. If you are concerned about infection schedule a visit for testing and an exam.
