Bumps on tongue: If the bumps are always there, and far back on the tongue in regular patterns, then they are your taste buds. You can google an image to compare. Herpes doesn't usually happen inside the mouth, and the sores don't stay permanently. Herpes sores heal up and go away after a few days (like cold sores on your lips).
