Pilonidal cyst: You may have what's called a pilonidal cyst. It is a collection of hair and dermal cells beneath the skin surface which gets infected and painful. You can try to use warm compresses or Sitz baths to soften the skin, but you may eventually need antibiotics or an incision performed by your doctor for complete relief.
