Depends on Diet: Stool is usually Brown, but if diet Vegetarian may be lighter in color. Pancreatitis (Alcohol, high Triglycerides, gall stones ++ can lead to light colored stool - Pancreatitis Ruled out with simple blood test). You should see an internist and get a battery of Blood tests to make sure nothing is abnormal - would do this right away - just need a blood slip from doctor.

Yellow stool: Yellow stool is not normal, especially if it's been this way for a while as you state. The yellow color could signify fat in the stool ("steatorrhea") which could be related to malabsorption of fat from the diet, or a medical issue that is preventing such.
