Atypical for mono: You don't say anything about how long this has been going on. If it's within 2-3 weeks of her initial diagnosis of mono, feeling better on some days and worse ("relapsing") on others is normal. People can have periods of fatigue on and off for a few months. There is no test to tell if someone with mono is infectious for others. Perhaps a misunderstanding beteen her and her doc, or you and her.

Unusual.: It is unusual for a person with mono to get completely better and then sick again with the same EBV virus. Your friend should see her doctor and determine what is going on. Unfortunately we can't provide any more information on this forum. It is great that you are concerned for your friend, though.
